Grace + Faith

Grace and Avery at Hospital

3am in the morning during a middle-of-the-night feeding of my second child. That’s when this idea came to me to start this page. I had no clue what that looked like, no perfectly coordinated color scheme, no major thought about the name of the page, and definitely no idea if anyone other than my mom or sister would want to follow along! I just had this shift in perspective, this gentle, quiet nudge: maybe instead of wishing that I could find gospel-driven resources for my less than typical motherhood experiences–maybe God is calling me to help create this kind of space. So, out of this 3am inspiration before I fell back to sleep, Grace + Faith Motherhood was born.

The name has a double-meaning, inspired by my faith and my family. There are 5 solas of the Reformation, that serve as essentials of the Christian faith. Two of these being sola gratia (by grace alone) and sola fide (by faith alone). Any so-called “wisdom” written in this page is only as a result of God’s sovereign grace and the faith he has given to me. But, for those of you who know me on a more personal level, these are also names in my family. My first name is Grace and part of my daughter’s first name is faith.

Hence, grace + faith seemed to be the most appropriate way for me to capture my heart for this page. Here, I plan to share gospel application to real-life situations on topics related to faith, motherhood, adoption, and multicultural education.

I mentioned my less typical motherhood experience. You see–I stand out a little bit from your average mom at the playground. I am a young mom, with 2 children under 2, who came to me through birth and transracial adoption. While I treasure many women from diverse backgrounds and experiences, I found that I had a deep desire to have a mom friend who could say “ME TOO!” about shared experiences and help point me towards the gospel. I didn’t know anyone around me with a closely similar experience.

I could’ve kept being frustrated and developed a “woe is me” sinful attitude. BUT GOD-He used that 3am feeding to sanctify me-to pull me out of any sinfulness of despair and to propel me in faith towards what I hope can be a ministry to other moms who share similar passions.

If you have a heart for finding JOY in motherhood as Christians, or you have a heart for adoption, or you have a heart for seeing the beauty of God’s creative diversity through multicultural education– please stay here and connect with other like minded mamas.

But, my hope is that no matter how similar or how different our experiences are, that you can walk away from this space with greater hope and joy knowing this simple, yet profound truth: Your motherhood is kingdom work. He is faithful and sufficient to provide for all of our needs.

By grace through faith,

Grace Ann
